Philippians 3:10 - 14. To enter into oneness with God through Jesus Christ and to pursue the new life in Christ while running hard on this world's earth - Heart in heaven and feet on the ground. Call me heavenward, Jesus!
I am an "ordinary Christian". In this world I may be, as all of God's children, extraordinary (Gen 1:27). In Christ I can do extraordinary things (Phil 4:13). But I like to identify myself as an ordinary Christian because I want to serve Christ according to the pleasure of His will, as His bondservant, as a slave, one owned by her Master. As such, every extraordinary thing I may do in Christ is standard fare, expected and a reasonable service of worship. With my view of Christ on my cross, I do not evaluate my service according to my own judgment. I do not choose to think of myself more highly than I ought, but rather I want to think of myself with sober judgment (Rom 12:3). Anything good I do is by the grace of Christ given me. I have no ability to measure what I do or don't do. I desire for my eye to be single and good. This is why I am an ordinary Christian. After all, Paul called himself "chief of sinners." Is it anything unreasonable to be known as an ordinary Christian?
I mailed a very important packet today and now the results are in His hands. Except they have always been in His hands and always will. Lord, be Thou my vision, my hands and feet too, that all you would have me to do, I would do in You.
